Cups - Buena Park
About This Spot
Stepping into Cups is like slipping into a well-worn favorite hoodie — familiar, unpretentious, and easy to settle into. This Buena Park sports bar carries the relaxed rhythm of a neighborhood spot where regulars and newcomers alike can find a moment to unwind without pretense. The space is modest, intimate, and humbly lit, inviting a laid-back pace that encourages lingering conversations, casual games, and the background hum of mixed music that fills the air without overwhelming it.
With a handful of TVs tuned to the latest games and a couple of pool tables ready for a friendly round, Cups strikes a balance between low-key hangout and spirited social hub. The vibe manages to be both lively enough to keep weekends interesting and calm enough for those midweek evenings when you just want to shake off the day. The bartenders here tend to be approachable — the kind of people you might find chatting with regulars or offering a quick recommendation when you’re undecided. It’s the kind of place where cheap drafts and pitchers make the drinks approachable, and the focus stays squarely on enjoying the company and the moment.
At Cups, the crowd reflects a broad slice of the community — from neighbors winding down after work to groups seeking an affordable spot to catch a game without the fuss of a crowded sports arena. There’s an honest simplicity here that refrains from flashy trends or polished formality. Instead, it offers a genuine, grounding space to share a laugh, engage in friendly banter, or just soak up that casual dive bar atmosphere that so many seek out for its comforting authenticity.
Though the focus is squarely on drinks and camaraderie rather than elaborate menus, the experience is textured by those small, human details — the smoothness of an affordable beer on tap, the nod of recognition between the bartenders and familiar faces, and the soundtrack of varied tunes keeping energy just right. For anyone looking to discover a local haunt that prizes straightforward fun and approachable warmth, Cups quietly holds its ground just steps from the bustle of Beach Blvd.

We were desperate for a drink after the whole day at Knotts Berry Farm with the kids and grandkids and this was the closest place that was open. It turned out to be pretty good. A very casual, small bar with decent options and a variety of music styles playing. The bartender was friendly and attentive. We were pleased.

Edit: the smell has been fixed and my review has accordingly! Been here a good number of times. Service is okay. Normal dive bar service. The biggest issue with this place is that it smells like black mold and vomit and sticky beer. God awful smell that you don’t get used no matter how many times you visit or how long you stay. The place is walking distance from my home and I’d practically live there if it didn’t smell like a frat house carpet. Would love to hear about them spending the money to get it fixed, but maybe they want to keep it that way so it stays a hang out for the regulars.

I came here for one drink with my brother and girlfriend, it was a nice environment. We ordered a pitcher of blue moon, which was $15, so that wasn't bad. The music was good, the crowd wasn't too large or too rowdy, and the guy behind the counter, although he was drunk, was pretty chill. I'd definitely come back.

It’s a solid dive bar. No good food but if you’re getting a drink it’s cheap and awesome. All the people hating on it are probably the geniuses that go to chain restaurants or pay 20 dollars for a margarita.

Justin was an amazing bartender, his bursting personality kept me around for another round. He creates a friendly atmosphere and made me feel included with strangers

It's a dive. Smelled like vomit. Vomit I can get passed, but it was that sweet smelling vomit from someone who had too many sugary drinks. This last visit was my first time back in like 20 years. Hasn't changed a bit. Enjoy!

This review is mostly for the food. Each and every time I go there, I always have a positive experience. The food is always amazing and fast! Beer selection is pretty good, but of course, their whiskey selection is impressive. Fairly large sized bar with the back dining area and service has been okay so far. Will be returning.
